President, ISPAN & Subisu Cablenet Ltd.

Sudhir Parajuli is a prominent figure in Nepal’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, currently serving as the President of the Internet Service Providers’ Association of Nepal (ISPAN). He is a co-founder and the President of Subisu Cablenet Ltd., one of the country’s leading internet and digital TV service providers.

Professional Background & Education

Mr. Parajuli’s career began with a solid technical and academic foundation. He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangalore University (1996) and earned his MBA from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 2000.

Before transitioning into entrepreneurship, he served as an Electrical Engineer at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for three years. His journey into the ISP industry was sparked by a vision to bring cable internet technology to Nepal, a concept he discovered while studying in India.

Entrepreneurial Journey: Subisu Cablenet

In 2001, alongside two school friends, he co-founded Subisu. The company faced initial regulatory hurdles when their ISP license applications were repeatedly rejected. Strategically, the team applied for and received a cable operator license instead, building the necessary infrastructure for television while preparing for a future in data services. By 2004, Subisu successfully secured an ISP license and became a pioneer in providing integrated cable TV and internet services in Nepal

Leadership & Industry Impact

Under his leadership since 2014, Subisu has expanded its reach to dozens of districts, employing hundreds of people. Mr. Parajuli has been instrumental in several industry milestones:

  • ISPAN Presidency: He has been elected as the Chairperson of ISPAN for multiple terms (most recently re-elected in 2023), where he advocates for the interests of all private ISPs and coordinates with government bodies.

  • National Recognition: In 2021, he was honored with the National ICT Excellence Award by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology for his significant contributions to the development of Nepal’s ICT sector.

  • Policy Advocacy: He serves as the President of the Federation of Nepal Cable Television and is a member of the ICT Development Committee under the FNCCI.
