Shaping the Digital Backbone of Nepal
The internet is no longer a luxury—it is the central nervous system of our economy. ISPAN stands at the forefront of this transformation, bridging the gap between urban centers and the most remote corners of the Himalayas.
The Digital Nepal Vision
ISPAN works in alignment with the Digital Nepal Framework 2019 to turn connectivity into opportunity. Our role extends beyond cables; we create the ecosystem required for:
-
E-Governance: Facilitating the bandwidth needed for the Nagarik App and digital citizenship services.
-
FinTech Growth: Providing the secure, low-latency backbone that powers eSewa, Khalti, and connectIPS transactions.
-
EdTech & Telemedicine: Ensuring rural schools and health posts stay connected to global knowledge and specialized care.
Pillars of our Infrastructure
We are modernizing Nepal’s network through three strategic technological shifts:
1. IPv6 Adoption
As the number of connected devices in Nepal explodes, ISPAN is leading the nationwide transition to IPv6. This ensures every user has a unique, secure digital identity and eliminates the bottlenecks of older networking standards.
2. Regional Data Centers (Edge Computing)
To reduce latency and keep Nepali data within Nepal, we advocate for and support the development of Local Data Centers.
-
Faster Loading: Content like YouTube and TikTok loads instantly via local peering.
-
Data Sovereignty: Protecting national data by hosting critical services on domestic servers.
3. Fiber-to-the-Village (FTTV)
While cities are saturated, the future of Nepal lies in its villages. ISPAN members are aggressively expanding fiber-optic networks across all 7 provinces, ensuring that a student in Jumla has the same digital access as a student in Kathmandu.
Sustainable Connectivity
Our advocacy for “Single Bucket” billing and shared infrastructure (Pole Sharing) isn’t just about costs—it’s about the environment and urban aesthetics.
“A Clean City is a Connected City.” ISPAN is committed to Wire Management Initiatives, working with municipalities to bundle cables and minimize “visual pollution” while maintaining 99.9% network uptime.
